Refugee Feeding Program
Myanmar is one of the most devastated, least addressed humanitarian crisis areas on earth. This is an area that is inhabited by thousands of families who have been displaced, their homes burned and their villages land-mined. Myanmar is just ending the longest running civil war in modern times–over 62 years. According to the US State Department Reports , the border region ranks among the most devastated places on earth.
IVC’s partners in this region have unanimously agreed that there is an urgent need for nutritious food. We felt we could do something to help this problem so we partnered with Feed My Starving Children and committed that every Volunteer Card purchased would provide at least one hot meal to a Burmese refugee.
We are so excited to announce that in February another shipment of 272,000 meals was sent to Thailand via the cargo ship, Ever Envoy! Click here to view the live tracking map for the ship as it makes its way to Bangkok.
We have to say a special thank you to everyone who has purchased an International Volunteer Card. We know that you are passionate about doing good in the world and by letting IVC insure you on your volunteer trip you are doing more good than you know. So, thank you!
We look forward to more exciting announcements such as this one so stay tuned! In the meantime, enjoy these photos from the meal distribution in October 2012.
