Int’l Volunteer Day 2012 – Scholarship Winner

And the winner of the $100 scholarship is…

Samantha Dolan!

In honor of International Volunteer Day, we want to know what is the craziest, most off-the-wall and unplanned experience that has happened to you while volunteering? 

Here is Samantha’s story:

“I volunteered on a medical trip to the jungles of Bolivia. When we landed in La Paz we thought we were going to some little village to help the children and families. Instead, our leader took us on a surprise tour of the famous Death Road. We get off the plane, jet lagged and exhausted, and onto a huge truck with bikes on the top that takes us to the top of Death Road Mountain. The only way down is to ride a bike, in the rain, fog, and muddy terrain. The name suits the ride, because if you fall, well, you get it.”
